10 Luxury Wedding Venues In Adelaide To Suit All Budgets

20 December 2022

Your wedding day is the perfect opportunity to plan those luxurious and romantic moments that you’ve always imagined — whether ‘luxury’, to you, means an intimate ceremony amongst a rose garden with family and friends or a grande formal dinner and dancing in one of Adelaide’s heritage venues. A high-end wedding experience is available for every couple, thanks to my list of luxury wedding venues in Adelaide to suit all budgets. Planning your dream wedding doesn’t have to mean writing a large cheque.

If you’re recently engaged (in that case, a big congratulations is in order!), here are the best wedding venues in Adelaide that ooze luxury in every sense — elegant and contemporary style, plush interiors, indulgent sensory experiences, and world-class food and hospitality.

1. Mount Lofty House

Mount Lofty House is one of my most beloved Adelaide wedding venues. It’s a classic heritage house, built in 1852 by English lawyer Arthur Hardy as a family home in the British manor style — because of this, I love that a Mount Lofty House wedding almost feels like a European wedding, with stately leather furniture, wooden interiors and formal gardens; offering outdoor ceremony locations and plenty of inviting spaces for your reception and cocktails.

Set in the Adelaide Hills, this incredible venue will appeal to couples looking for elegance, serenity, and world-class hospitality — they’ve even been named the best wedding venue in South Australia by the Australian Bridal Industry Awards.

The hotel and cottages on-site can sleep up to 80 people in indulgent comfort, so it’s an ideal location for a destination wedding in South Australia too, with a wedding planning team to help you with every detail, large or small.

2. Beresford House

If you’re imagining a McLaren Vale wedding, complete with stunning sunset photos in the vineyards, then you’re going to love Beresford House! Part of Beresford Wine, a 70-acre working winery and taphouse which stands out for its incredible drops, but also its sweeping modern architecture that looks perfectly in place amongst the lush rolling hills.

Beresford House has a range of wedding packages, with estate hire including exclusive venue use, your ceremony location, wait staff and accommodation for the bridal couple plus use of the Grenache Villa, which sleeps us to six. The accommodation is really lux and I love the modern ivy-coloured wall — a stunning ceremony backdrop.

This iconic venue is inspiring, romantic and just perfect for contemporary style and luxury. I also love Beresford House wedding photography as it’s so modern, clean and elegant, with strong leading lines, landscaped gardens and perfect golden sunsets.

Oh, and if you need any more reason to consider Beresford, their wines are world-class, matched with delicious local cuisine — heaven!

3. Maison De Moon

As an Adelaide wedding photographer, I love venues like Maison de Moon as they transport you to another world. This French-inspired venue, in Clarendon, makes you feel like you’re walking through the tranquil French countryside — only it’s in the Adelaide Hills!

This 13-acre property began construction in the 1950s but has since been converted into a grand provincial farmhouse and established as a wedding venue in 2020 — think curved doorways, draping wisteria and inviting gardens with wrought-iron sitting chairs. A Maison de Moon wedding is just made for intimate gatherings, with space for both ceremonies and receptions for groups of around 20-40 people.

It’s such a magical and whimsical place, so free-spirited and artistic couples will absolutely love it here! The magic of this sweet venue is also well suited to engagement shoots — a fun way to capture some candid snaps and also work together in advance of your wedding day.

4. Lloyd Brothers

Lloyd Brothers, in McLaren Vale, is a modern and locally-owned winery and olive grove, dating back to the 1960s. Weddings here are so gorgeous, with a clean, white aesthetic that’s both contemporary and classic.

You can host your ceremony outside, exchanging your vows in the property’s gorgeous gardens, but the star of the show is the venue’s purpose-built Barrel Hall, a modern eye-catching reception venue in white with views of the rolling hills below. The Barrel Hall can host up to 250, so a Lloyd Brothers wedding is great for larger groups.

I love McLaren Vale weddings as the landscape is always so inviting, it’s easily accessible and you know your guests will eat and drink well.

5. Al Ru Farm

For Adelaide wedding photography in a dreamy garden setting, one of the best options has to be Al Ru Farm. Established in 1979 in Sampson Flat by a local couple, the Irving family transformed the land into one of the city’s most iconic garden spaces.

Al Ru Farm weddings and elopements give couples plenty of incredible spaces to craft the perfect day, with multiple gardens, reception areas and ceremony venues to select from. The White Wedding Garden, originally created for a family wedding, is a dreamy wisteria and rose walkway, but I also love their iconic glasshouse, which looks so striking for wedding photography. They can cater from 35-350 guests and there’s accommodation on-site too.

With a French-inspired vibe, weddings here are always so romantic!

6. Mitolo Wines

Head over to Mitolo Wines, in our stunning McLaren Vale, for a high-end wedding with some of the most premium food and wine South Australia has to offer. Established in the 1950s when the Mitolo family moved from Abruzzo to Australia, weddings here really have that extra-special Italian style and hospitality.

The al fresco dining here is wonderful, with plenty of sprawling vineyards and lawns for you and your guests to enjoy as you sip a cocktail and savour the aromas and atmosphere of the winery. Choose from either the Little Wolf Osteria or the Arbor — both are amazing but the Arbor is a unique blend of indoor and outdoor spaces, complete with a polished hardwood dance floor. Mitolo Wines wedding photography is gorgeous too, with lush green lawns, endless vineyards and romantic festoon lighting.

7. Mandalay House & Garden

Petwood’s Mandalay House and Garden is an elegant blend of European and Australian styles, creating a stunning grand manor home that evokes romance and grace. The formal gardens are timeless, and as a Mandalay House wedding photographer, I always love exploring the manicured hedgerows, floral archways and inspiring landscape designs to create photography that’s just so picture-perfect. Mandalay honestly feels like a European wedding in Adelaide.

From the tree-lined walkways to Mandalay’s impressive stone steps, this venue is ideal for a luxury wedding, stylish black-tie and impeccable hospitality — easily one of South Australia’s most inspiring wedding venues!

8. Bloom

Bloom is such a modern and refreshing wedding venue in Thebarton, just outside the city. A Bloom wedding is ideal for smaller groups, with the ability to host up to 150 guests for a seated meal or 20 within their Winwood Garden Pavillion. Their shaded lawn area is perfect for sipping on cocktails under the shade of the gum trees.

At Bloom, an old tram shed has been lovingly converted into a beautiful events space, with clean white decor and lush hanging ivy, which creates such a welcoming and magical atmosphere for your big day. Walk a few minutes down to the Karrawirra Parri river or use the modern building as a backdrop for your Bloom wedding photography. Because it’s only a few minutes outside the CBD, it’s also a really convenient location for your guests, but still feels private and secluded from the hectic city lifestyle — the best of both worlds!

9. Kingsford Barossa Homestead

For a grand heritage wedding that’s quintessentially South Australian, the Kingsford Barossa Homestead is a perfect option. Built in 1856, this venue can now sleep up to 32 guests and has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation.

For couples who love history and want a wedding out in the country, Kingsford is just a 45-minute drive from Adelaide but surrounded by gum trees, rolling hills and open spaces — you’re truly immersed in the Australian countryside and it’s just pure bliss.

A beautiful vineyard ceremony awaits, followed by an afternoon cocktail by the outdoor firepit before celebrating the night away! Heritage stonemasonry, modern decor and luxury accommodation (complete with a swimming pool!) means a Kingsford Barossa Homestead wedding is the sweetest blend of traditional and contemporary.

10. Villarica Estate

Ok, last but certainly not least! If you’re dreaming of an Italian-inspired wedding without a long overseas flight, Villarica Estate is a unique and gorgeous wedding venue in Stirling, part of the Adelaide Hills.

This Tuscan villa is a privately owned space that cultivates a feeling of luxury and exclusivity, with Italian colour palettes of burnt orange and sepia, inviting gardens and private stables. It’s well suited for intimate weddings and Villarica Estate wedding photography is always stunning, with gorgeous backdrops around every corner.

With any of these venues, it’s easy to curate a perfect luxury wedding in Adelaide, with both ceremony and reception locations that you’ll fall in love with! Some of these wedding venues can book out quickly though, so aim to lock yours in as soon as you can to avoid missing out.
